Lady Patriots Victorious in Christmas Tournament
The Strong Rock Lady Patriots entered the Lincoln County Christmas Tournament (December 16-17) with a record of 6 wins and zero losses. This would be Strong Rock’s biggest test as they entered a tournament with Class A teams, Washington-Wilkes and Lincoln County, as well as Class AAAA Lakeside-Evans. In the first game the Lady Patriots took on the host team, Lincoln County. After trailing most of the game, Strong Rock pulled out the opening round win 42-39. Lincoln County’s desperation three-pointer at the buzzer missed and the Lady Patriots advanced to the championship game.
On Saturday, Strong Rock played in the championship versus Washington-Wilkes. Again, the girls trailed most of the game before taking a lead with 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The Lady Patriots would not give the lead back, hanging on to win 44-38. After trailing by 15 at halftime, the girls held Washington-Wilkes to 10 points in the 2nd half. Congratulations to the Lady Patriots basketball team. Also, congratulations to Katie Jones for being named “Tournament Most Valuable Player” and Candler Gregory for being named to the “All-Tournament Team.”
LADY PATRIOT BASKETBALL STILL UNDEFEATED
The Strong Rock Lady Patriots head into the Christmas break with a record of 5-0. They will travel to Lincoln County High School (directions) for a tournament on December 16 to take on the host school at 7:00 pm. The next game will be played on Saturday, but the time will be determined by Friday’s outcome.
